Bucks Fall 33-7 to Strong Cocalico Run Game

By Ethan Miller ‘23

The Conestoga Valley Buckskins lost to the Cocalico Eagles Friday by a score of 33-7. While the CV defense struggled for the first half, they only allowed one touchdown in the second half. The CV offense also played better in the second half, including their first touchdown of the year.

In the first quarter, the Eagles scored a touchdown early on to make it 7-0. They then drove down the field deep into CV territory but did not score immediately, as the first quarter ended.

Early in the second quarter, they punched it in for a 13-0 lead, as the kicker missed the extra point. The scoring did not stop there, however, as they drove down the field for another touchdown shortly thereafter to make it 19-0. The subsequent 2-point conversion failed. Late in the second quarter, the Cocalico rushing attack struck again to make it 26-0 going into halftime.

To start the third quarter, the CV defense showed reason for optimism among fans by forcing the high powered Eagles offense to a 3 and out. This continued for much of the second half, and the Bucks only allowed the Eagles to score once in the third and fourth quarters.

Late in the third quarter, the Bucks offense started to perform better, driving down to first and goal at the Eagles 10-yard line. Unfortunately, they turned the ball over on downs and did not score, but on their next drive, they would.

About halfway through the fourth quarter, CV once again drove deep into Eagles territory, and this time they scored, with senior RB James Williams scampering into the end zone on an 11-yard touchdown run. The extra point was successful, and that was how the game ended, 33-7 in favor of Cocalico
