This Wednesday, October 2nd, Conestoga Valley school district will present their annual community bonfire, which helps to raise money for the various clubs and organizations within the high school. Many clubs will have booths set up to sell items to raise money for their clubs and school activities. A few of these include P.o.W.E.R., a cultural importance club, Tri-M, a music honors society, NHS, an honor society group, WLA, a women’s alliance club, and many others.

In addition to booths selling items, there will be games, activities, and food stands set up around the field. The main event, however, is the fire itself. A big bonfire will be set up in the center of the field, inviting the community to bask in the heat surrounded by their friends and family. There will be plenty for all to do at the event.

Ashley Johnston, assistant principal at Conestoga Valley high school, said, “We have about 50 tables that represent clubs and local organizations that will be selling food, offering information, and games.” She added, “The bonfire is always a fantastic event that brings together the community of Conestoga Valley together. It’s a family fun event filled with reptiles, snakes, face painting, games, food, an actual bonfire, and even fireworks.”

The community bonfire is a great way to show pride for the school, the clubs, and the athletes in fall sports. It supports the students in their school activities and it recognizes all that the CV students do for the school. It is a big fundraiser that helps student clubs be more successful and get materials that they need.

The clubs are having meetings and are talking with other group members to think of fundraising ideas for the booths at the bonfire. Senior Sam Radwanski said, “On Monday our officers all had a meeting at one of the officers’ houses and we all decided to make bracelets and necklaces to sell at the bonfire for WLA. I think it’s going to be a very fun event and me and everyone in WLA is very excited about it!”
