The biggest difference from the CVHS football team three years ago and now according to Zanyae Brooks (11) ,” is that we hold each other accountable. We’re more active, more hardworking during practice, we want more so we put in the work to get where we are now.”

This junior feels like the team this year has figured out what they want to accomplish within their goals. They have discovered their weak points within the team and have since worked on and revised their team.

When Coach Scepanski was interviewed he spoke about when he first started coaching just 4 years ago and he mentions how his team was already great when he first got here, he said they can only get better.

“ I certainly think it’s the change in staff as far as the assistant coaches, I think it’s the way they bonded with the players and built and installed their systems into the program that certainly fits the kids that we have playing for us.”  Quoted Coach Scepanski when asked about their coaching regimen and about their plays.

Although the first team, when he started coaching, has his heart these boys have a special spot with him. They have been through losses and victories together and plan to do so even when their beloved seniors graduate and they get new teammates.

Sawyer Esbenshade (12) said, “Something that they don’t see is just all the film work we do and everything before practice, you know, all the coaches, all the players, they put in so much work in the film room, and to make it a good practice, also to make us prepared for the game.”

This experienced senior explains that there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than everyone sees, there is a lot more work and effort that goes into playing the game they love.
