CVHS P.o.W.E.R Club in Office

P.o.W.E.R club focuses on students embracing their different cultures and heritages. The club uses multiple ways to help students embrace one another, including  advertising and selling goods, including many other things.They host Spirit Week, as well as an informational meeting in the auditorium.

P.o.W.E.R was founded at CV in 2020 during the pandemic. Iit was used to help people escape from the discriminatory actions of others at the time. Many students volunteer for the club without being an active member. P.o.W.E.R has been used for students around the school to not be afraid to embrace who they are and what their culture is.  

Mrs Casey Banh is the Teacher Advisor of P.o.W.E.R, she said she wants students to have a place where they feel they can express themselves and their cultures.  Rather than 

Shainna Le (12), the Co-President of P.o.W.E.R,said, “P.o.W.E.R is a club where I’m able to learn about other cultures, along with my own.”  

Emery Murray (12), Vice President of the club, said, “It means unity, more diversity, and empowering others.” 

Victor Maina is also a senior and President of P.o.W.E.R. His sister Mercy Maina, is one of the founding members. He stated, “Let me join the club, and take over.”  He says he wants to continue his sisters legacy that was left at CV.  He added, “We are here to help uplift other people with different backgrounds.”
