There are two theories about what happened to Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of the famous band Nirvana. The police and the internet say that he committed suicide at the age of twenty-seven on April 5th, 1994. This alleged suicide took place in his home in a room right above his garage in Lake Washington Boulevard in Seattle.
The other theory is the reason that the word “allegedly” is used. The theory is that his wife at the time, Courtney Love, hired a hit man to kill him for his money and fame and faked a suicide note. One of the things that supports this theory is the way that Kurt Cobain died.
Kurt Cobain’s body was found three days after he had been confirmed deceased. He was discovered with a Remington Model 11 20-gauge shotgun by his side. The alleged suicide note found at the scene of the crime wasn’t in Kurt’s handwriting.
Supporters of the suicide theory point to the face that Kurt Cobain was an inpatient at a psych ward in Rome after a life-threatening overdose of Rohypnol and alcohol. This happened three months before he allegedly committed suicide. The record company claimed an accidental overdose, but Courtney Love later stated that it was a suicide attempt.
Love was in rehab herself when Kurt Cobain died.
Kurt Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, was twenty months old when her father died. She reflected on what it was like losing a parent on the thirtieth anniversary of her father’s death in 2024. She stated, “I wish I could’ve known my Dad.”
As for what Courtney Love did after his death, she had to prove that she didn’t write the suicide note that was found at the scene of the crime. She had to go to court and she had to rewrite the note in the courtroom. The jury found her innocent in the case. After her husband’s death, Love has mostly stayed out of the media spotlight.
