Senior QB Macoy Kneisley threw for a touchdown and ran for another, and 3 different running backs ran for a touchdown as the Buckskins blew out Daniel Boone on Friday night 42-7. After a disappointing season opener against Penn Manor last week, the offense and defense turned in a stalwart performance at home in Witmer.
Zach Phy started the scoring early with a 35-yard touchdown scamper to give the Bucks a 7-0 first-quarter lead. Daniel Boone tied it up in the second quarter with a touchdown pass from QB Dean Rotter to make it a 7-7 game, which was as close as it was all night. From that point on, it was all Buckskins.
Nick Tran added his own rushing touchdown from 25 yards out and, just a few minutes later, Kneisley connected with wideout Jeff Fisher for a 29-yard score. At the half, Conestoga Valley led 21-7.
Tran broke off his second long touchdown run of the game in the early third quarter, this time for 44 yards. In the fourth quarter, Kneisley added a rushing touchdown to his passing one from earlier in the game, running the score to 35-7 Buckskins. Ish Camacho added a final score with a 33 yard sprint to the end zone to close out a dominating performance. The defense prevented Daniel Boone from gaining any momentum and forced 8 punts on the evening.
The win moves the Buckskins to 1-1 and third place in Section 2. CV plays again this Friday on the road, traveling to Garden Spot to play the Spartans. The Spartans are 2-0 on the year after wins against Lebanon and Conrad Weiser and are tied for first in Section 3.
