On Wednesday, September 17th, CVHS Buckskins Girls Soccer team faced a difficult team, the Hempfield Knights. The game took place at 7:30pm in the CV stadium.

Before the matchup, Tessa Book (11), starting outside back for the varsity girls soccer team, said, “We lost to them in overtime last year, so I think that we have a really good chance at winning and that should boost our section.”

Another player from the Buckskins, senior Kaylana Davis shared her feelings about the game: “I think it’s going to be very physically and mentally challenging.” Davis plays as a strong midfielder for the center; her ability on the field is remarkable.

Currently, the Buckskins are on a 5-4 record, and are 4th in the league. For them to make it to the playoffs, all they need to do is win 3 more games. Winning this game could raise them higher in the section. As for Hempfield they’re at a 2-4-1 record.

Fellow teammate Alexis Newswanger (10) said, “I think it’s gonna be a tough game but if we actually really try and put our minds to it, I feel like we can win.”

Despite having a positive attitude, the Buckskins fell short of the win.

During the game, the Buckskins couldn’t pull through on top, with an ending score of  Conestoga Valley 0 to Hempfield 3. Having to play in the pouring rain, the Buckskin tried to get a goal while controlling the field most of the time, but the shots Hempfield had were enough for the ball to go through.
