The Conestoga Valley Lady Bucks basketball team lost a close game Wednesday night against the Penn Manor Comets 51-43. The team started strong and led after the conclusion of the first quarter, but faltered on defense in the second quarter, giving up 23 to the Comets and only scoring 4 themselves. Going into halftime, the Bucks trailed 31-18.
The Lady Bucks started the second half strong, and by the end of the third quarter they had cut the deficit down to 11 points at 41-30 in favor of Penn Manor. In the fourth quarter, the Bucks continued to rally, closing the gap to only 8 points midway through the quarter. However, their comeback fell short as the Comets scored multiple times late to put the game out of reach. Overall, the team played well outside of the second quarter and showed promise late.
On offense, Ashley Cirilo (‘23) led the team with 10 points, including 2 3-pointers made. Both Yazmeen Norris (‘23) and Taylor Hehnly (‘22) scored 8 points to contribute. Norris also added multiple key rebounds that kept the team in the game. Hehnly had multiple rebounds as well and had multiple steals in addition on defense.
