CVHS spirit week dress up lasted four days, from September 24th to September 27th. There was a different theme each day and most students dressed up accordingly. It was a great way for students to express themselves and have fun.

Junior Brayden Kendig said, “At first I didn’t think much of spirit week, but seeing a lot of students and teachers dressing up made me pay attention to it more. I wasn’t planning on dressing up for spirit week, but I’m glad I changed my mind.”

Spirit week dress up has been a tradition at CVHS for many years. This spirit week is related to the theme of homecoming which is Inside Out.

There are many reasons why some people choose to participate during spirit week and why some don’t. The majority of students at CVHS picked to dress up and show off their school spirit. They found it fun to pick out a certain outfit and match the theme with other students.

Brayden Kendig (11) was one of many that dressed up and had this to say about spirit week, “I dressed up almost every day to match the theme and I didn’t mind it.”

On the other side, a minority chose to rather not participate during spirit week. Some students don’t feel comfortable dressing up for a certain theme or some would simply choose not to participate. Others face obstacles like having CTC or not having clothes to match the theme.

Junior D’Michael White chose not to participate during spirit week since he had CTC, and changing to clothes related to the theme would be an obstacle he would rather avoid than take on. He said, “I did not dress up for spirit week because I had CTC and if I did change it would complicate things.”

A handful of students chose not to dress up for spirit week because they simply had no interest in participating. Sophomore Keith could relate and said, “I did not dress up for spirit week because I don’t care.”

Some students had mixed opinions about spirit week. D’Michael White (11) gave his opinion by saying, “I was not the biggest fan of the themes.” He said, “If I could pick a theme for spirit week I would choose my favorite sport which is soccer, because soccer has a lot of teams and the leagues are in different countries.”

Some students think it would be a good idea to let students at CVHS vote for the spirit week theme. Junior Brayden commented, “Being given multiple choices for the theme would result in students being more interested in spirit week. It would also motivate students who don’t want to participate to dress up.”

Spirit week dress up has been a memorable part of the school year and will likely be an annual tradition at Conestoga Valley High School for many more years to come.
