By Olivia Deebel ’23

HAIM is a band made up of 3 sisters: Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim. They are a pop rock band that has been around since 2007. They released their album Woman in Music Pt. lll on June 26, 2020. It had been delayed because of the pandemic, originally scheduled for release in April 2020. This is a pop rock album, with indie influence. This album was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys.

Then, to many people’s surprise, they dropped something else. On February 18th, 2021, they released an expanded version of the album. This new version included two of the songs from the original album, but with a twist.

The first song was Gasoline. This new version of the song now included a feature from Taylor Swift. She had a verse of her own and sang backing vocals for the chorus. The band and Swift have a long history of friendship. They even have another song together, Swift’s song, no body, no crime.

The second song to receive a change was 3AM. This feature included Thundercat. Haim and Thundercat seem to have been friends for some time now. They were always friendly, but never seemed to be super close, so people were excited when they announced their collaboration.

Fans were extremely excited about these new collaborations on this Grammy-nominated album. These new songs and the new extended album are available on all streaming platforms.
