From WandaVision to Eternals. Marvel’s Phase 4 is full of interesting and binge-worthy movies and shows.
The Disney+ series, WandaVision was the face of miniseries in March 2021. It featured Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany returning as Wanda Maximoff and Vision, and new characters such as Kathryn Hahn playing Agatha Harkness and Teyonah Parris playing Maria Rambeau’s daughter, Monica Rambeau. WandaVision follows the story of Wanda Maximoff a few weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame. We witness Maximoff experience grief, denial, shame while she discovers how powerful she really is. Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) from Antman returns as well as Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) from Thor: The Dark World.
Another Marvel miniseries fans are buzzing about is Loki. Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, stars. Joining Hiddleston is Owen Wilson as Mobius. In Loki, we follow the god of mischief after the events of The Avengers. After picking up the Tesseract, Loki suddenly disappears. Fans get a look into what happened to Loki and where he went. Spoiler Alert! Thankfully, he doesn’t die like he has in 3 other Marvel movies.
After waiting for YEARS for her own movie, fans got to witness Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow one last time after her death in Avengers Endgame. After the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff is wanted by the US government. One day, Natasha’s ‘sister,’ Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) reaches out to her via a package containing a synthetic gas able to break mind control. After meeting up with the rest of her family, Natasha makes it her personal mission to track down and take down The Red Room, a program that turns innocent girls into trained assassins. Black Widow touches on real world issues, like human trafficking. Fans have waited since Iron Man 2 for Johansson to get her own movie, especially after her character’s death.
With new movies like Shang-Chi and Eternals hitting theaters, I doubt we’ll be going into a Marvel drought any time soon. Spiderman: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness, and the Hawkeye Disney+ series are just a few projects fans are anxiously waiting for. Marvel never ceases to amaze, and I doubt they’ll start soon. With the OG Avengers storyline coming to a close, Marvel fans are grateful for their favorite superheroes. From Wanda Maximoff to Sam Wilson to Peter Parker, Marvel fans are ecstatic for the new movies to come.
