On this early morning of Monday the 25th of September, there are 2 national football teams going against each other in a game; these two teams are the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The game is happening at the Eagles’s home stadium in Philadelphia.

Government and Economics teacher Mr. Helms said, “When I was younger, I had a neighbor who loved the Eagles and since I was around him most of the time, I began to like them and how they play. Some parts of the team need a little bit of working on, like their offense, but other than that, I’ve always liked them.”

When the Eagles first started out in 1933 they were created by a man named Bert Bell. During this time, the team won 4 championships. The opposing team, the Buccaneers, were founded much later in 1976 by a man named Hugh Culverhouse. They, however, didn’t start off as well as the Eagles, with a losing streak of 26 before finally getting their first win.

Former Marine Mike Kennedy said, “The Eagles, they’re a great team. I’ve been watching them since I was little. They’ve been playing really good, but for the opposing team, I don’t like the Buccaneers because they beat us one year ago in a wild card.”

The Buccaneers are a good team to go against, because of how good they’ve been playing, with their record this season being 3-1.

CV student Sophia Delarso (12) noted, ‘My family always put [the Eagles] on the TV when I was younger. I loved sitting and waiting for the Eagles to score and win whatever game they were in and even though I didn’t know what was happening I still loved the game.”

It is clear that the CV community favors the Eagles, which makes sense, since they are the “home” team for the region. Many CV students and staff have grown up with the team, making them enthusiastic fans.
