Buckskins Soar to Four Game Winning Streak

By Owen Patten ‘24

Under the Friday night lights in Witmer, Buckskins football continued their streak with the fourth win in a row and fifth overall victory.

CV started off strong against the Penn Manor Comets in the first quarter with Kayden Martin, #39, scoring the first touchdown for 5 yards. The CV defense was epically strong, not letting the Comets score anything in the first quarter. The defense has really stepped it up in recent weeks allowing only 21 points in the last three games, combined.

In the first half, senior wideout Zach Fisher caught four passes for 84 yards, including a 19 yard touchdown. On top of his impressive offense, he also grabbed one interception to help make the lead 16-0 with the Buckskins on top going into the half. During halftime, the crowd was treated to a fantastic performance from the CV Marching Band, including a fitting presentation of “We Will Rock You” by Queen.

The Comets struggled with their offense all night, highlighted by three turnovers. In the second quarter, Comets QB Luke Braas was called for intentional grounding in the endzone which ended in a safety putting two more points on the board for CV confirming the 16-0 lead into halftime. After another CV touchdown coming from a pick 6 by Kaden Martin, CV had a strong 23-0 lead at the end of the third quarter. Penn Manor punched in two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but the Conestoga Valley Buckskins cemented their lead with a 68 yard TD run by Nick Tran (#20)  to secure the 30-14 win. Under the leadership of Head Coach Gerad Novac, the Buckskins are flying high with a spectacular 5-2 overall record. Next up, they will face Daniel Boone in the final game of the season.
